Disney Sells Over 150 Acres

The Orlando Business Journal reports that Disney has sold 158 acres of land in its Flamingo Crossings project.

Flamingo Crossings is a Walt Disney Imagineering masterplan property located to the west of the Walt Disney World Resort. Earlier this year, a Marriott complex with a SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites opened. The area can be accessed via 429 and has direct entry onto Disney property via Western Way.

The 429 and 192 vicinity has exploded with growth in recent years with much commercial development. The area is also home to much of Osceola County's/Kissimmee's vibrant vacation home market which Experience Kissimmee names the "Vacation Home Capital of the World." Other nearby projects include conversion of the former Grande Palisades resort which sat vacant for many years into the Grove Resort & Spa condo hotel, Pulte Homes' (Windsor Palms, Windsor Hills, Vista Cay) newest vacation home resort Windsor at Westside, and a recently announced Margaritaville Resort. A rezoning request for Flamingo Crossings suggests multi-family units as a possible component together with the hotels and other commercial developments. Stay tuned.
