Beat The Central Florida Heat / The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek Now Open!

August 25th, 2014 1:45 PM by Brent Ferry

Although local schools are back in session and Labor Day Weekend approaches, it is still very much Summer here in Orlando.  A multi day heat wave which sent temperatures above 95 degrees for the better part of the past week finally "broke" today...with some low 90 temperatures!!! Reports varied on Sunday regarding matching or falling a degree short of the record high of 99 set in 1915. Any way you shake it, it is HOT, HOT, HOT in Central Florida.

In an attempt to beat the heat, don't forget you can enjoy 4 great water parks in Orlando.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Disney's Blizzard Beach
Aquatica, SeaWorld's Waterpark
Wet 'n Wild

Check for discount tickets from our friends at Kissimmee Guest Services including $2 off single day Disney Water Park tickets or discounts on multi day theme park tickets with the Water Park Fun & More option.

You can also try getting on the water at the newly opened Paddling Center at Shingle Creek.

Visit their website here

The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek is being operated out of the Shingle Creek Regional Park Steffee Landing Location at 4266 W. Vine Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741. Travel east on 192 past Medieval Times and Walmart to the park entrance on the far side of the creek.  Enjoy kayak, canoe, or SUP rentals.

You can also visit the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum across the street.

Visitors from years ago may remember airboat rentals from this location.  The land is now part of the Kissimmee and Osceola County Park Systems Shingle Creek Reserve.
